Social media has become a wonderful tool for us to use to connect with people form all over the world, it has also become a portal for others to judge every picture, every post and every video that we throw out there. How does that make you feel? For me, when I first signed up for Facebook I was not authentic at all, I only posted a few pictures and some random corny shit. I felt like if I had a bad day, I wasn’t allowed to talk about it because it would make me look weak or different than I wanted to appear. We all know those people, the people that only talk about the positives….. The people that you know are full of shit. What if everything you posted, regardless of it being good/bad/ugly was ok? What if people supported you on all types of days? What if people liked your cat memes as much as they liked you “hey I started my own business” posts. It has taken me all of 2016 to get to a point where I feel like I can say whatever I want and I truly let the opinion I have of myself dictate what I do or say. People are funny nowadays, they will rip apart another human being for doing a certain thing all while they are doing things much worse. People are starving for TRUTH, they don’t want sugar coated fluffy bullshit. Here is the list of the top 5 things I changed in my approach to building a following in 2016.
- Post about the good days and the bad days
- READ!! Share what you learn
- Agree to disagree with people ( it is ok for someone to have a different opinion than you)
- Video is content king
- DO NOT ENGAGE WITH DRAMA
Number 5 should probably be number 1 on the list. We all have the same 24 hours in the day so pick and choose where you spend it. Staying away from drama that does that not concern you will find a way to add additional time to your day. You will see this on social media ALL THE TIME. People engaging in some BS that has nothing to do with them. Keep on your path and focus on you.
If you have a business idea that you need help bringing to life, I encourage you to reach out and schedule a call with and get moving!!
Cheers to a great 2017
